Beginning the counseling process can sometimes feel overwhelming or even scary. Rest assured, many people feel the same way, and my goal is to make this as easy as possible for you.
If you haven’t contacted me directly by email to discuss your needs, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Some people are comfortable discussing their needs and asking questions by email. Others would rather set up a free phone consultation. You decide what works best for you. If you’d like a phone consultation, simply request this in your email.
Once you have all your questions answered and are ready to begin, we will schedule a 50-minute intake appointment. This is the first session where we meet each other in person. Before your intake session, I will send you a link to my confidential client portal where you can securely fill out the intake forms. There is a waiting area when you walk in the door. Please proceed up the steps and let the front desk know you are here to see me. Feel free to wait in the area provided or browse the gift shop. There is coffee and water, so help yourself!
I will process your payment at the beginning of the session. We will discuss confidentiality, what to do in an emergency, and what to do if there is a conflict with me. I will gather background information from you as well as talk with you about what you’d like to address in counseling. Together, we will create a basic plan of action, called a Treatment Plan.
Each session after the intake is 50-minutes. This is where you will address your concerns. I am sensitive to each person’s unique learning style and needs, so we’ll work together to make sure you’re receiving the best possible interventions. I approach counseling at your pace. You are always in charge of your own healing. It is important to remember that sometimes it gets harder before it gets better, but my job is to support you through the process each step of the way.
