Deep Healing Brings Lasting Change

How do I differ from other therapists? I offer a deep experience designed to bring to light both conscious and unconscious issues which are influencing your life.
My focus is not on pathology or labeling my clients. Rather, my passion is to attend to the "whole person," utilizing a safe, supportive, and confidential therapeutic relationship.

I do not promote a superficial fix as has become the current trend. It is imperative to find healing at the root of the issue, rather than just treating the symptoms. The short-term approach may bring temporary relief, but the real issue remains and will continue to manifest in your life.

Celebrate Your Life

It's taken many years for you to develop into the person you are today, and it takes time to become the person you want to be. This is an ongoing process. However, most of my clients will tell you that change begins early in therapy, and the process is transformative.
Because everyone's experiences are unique, I draw from a variety of therapeutic tools which are customized to meet your specific needs. The counseling I offer is collaborative, meaning you are highly involved in the process.

I believe you are the expert of your own life, and it is my honor to walk with you on your unique life's journey. So, whether you're looking to increase communication with marriage counseling, deal with a challenging situation, or make a life change, together we will bring light to the hidden barriers and rediscover the beauty that is within you.

TESTIMONIALS:

When I first saw Deborah I was in a horribly manipulative, abusive relationship which caused me to be clinically depressed and even contemplating suicide. Deborah taught me to be strong, to stand up for myself, and most importantly, that it was good to stand up for myself. She helped me get out of that relationship and then helped me to become the man I wanted to be. Deborah pushed my boundaries emotionally in order to get to the root problems of low self worth and my deep seeded codependency. I have known since day one that Deborah truly cares about my health, my problems, my issues, and has always gone out of her way to help me remember what I'm worth and to help me get what I want out of life. Honestly, I would have killed myself if it wasn't for Deborah, and now after putting in the hard work and time, I am confident, strong, and the man I've always wanted to be. I am blessed beyond comprehension to call her my counselor.” ~Brian, (Salem, OR)

"I feel so fortunate that Deborah accepted and rose to the challenge of leading a divorce support group for women. She attracted a great group of women and directed the acceptance and openness that allowed us to grow and heal together. I personally enjoyed her weekly topics, guiding us through exercises that brought awareness and reflection. When she saw us struggling or closing off, she knew how to encourage us. It was a safe and accepting space, but with enough direction that by the end, we all found ourselves at a new place in our journey." ~Anna (Salem, OR)

"Deb is the most amazing counselor and woman! She really walks the journey with you, creating a safe place for you to be vulnerable to work through the process to bring true healing to the areas of your heart that need it." ~Carol (Salem, OR)

“It was perfect timing for me to begin Deborah’s divorce support group. At the time, I had been divorced for approximately 2 ½ years and still had a lot stored in my head. I not only sorted things out, but also developed awareness and healing for things that were not at the forefront of my mind. It was invigorating to meet each week with other women, who may not have been exactly in the same place in their journeys, but could all relate as women and moms.” ~"Kate" (Salem, OR)

"I walked into counseling afraid to heal because I did not trust myself to make it through the healing process in a healthy manner.   After years at failed attempts of healing and counseling, I no longer trusted myself to feel without letting my emotions take control of me-and at times that meant self harm.  Before addressing anything, Deborah wanted me to trust myself again.  She was aware that I was afraid of harming myself if I allowed myself to feel.  This fear was keeping me caged. She taught me how I could practically implement strategies to feel through my emotions without the emotions controlling me.   I would have not been able to go through the grueling healing process which has brought freedom in my life without trusting myself first.  Looking back I realize she saw the bigger picture and knew what needed to happen first before working through the trauma and pain-that shows excellent clinical skills.  Top those great clinical skills with a story of her own, compassion, humility and professionalism and you get a top notch counselor!" ~Lynette (Portland, OR)

"I came to see Deborah when I realized that I couldn't go through the grieving process alone. My mother had passed away 3 months prior and I had bee her caretaker before she died. I found myself feeling like I didn't know how to grieve, and needed someone to help me through the process. I came away with so much more. In a very down to earth and accessible manner, Deborah provided the grounding I needed to explore my experiences. What I am most excited about is the feeling that the answers to what ails me no longer lie so much outside myself, but inside. I feel like I have the skills and fortune to do some exploring on my own." ~Emily (Salem, OR)
